The Hungarian Cultural Association "PALIĆ" began its operations in 2006, with the intention of satisfying the needs of the citizens of Palics for culture and preserving traditions, as well as helping to preserve the sense of Hungarian identity.
At the time of its foundation, the Association had only one section, primarily aimed at the elderly, the Szederinda folk song group. In the years since then, we have tried to involve young people, especially children, in the work, so today we operate with around 150 active members, 15 groups, with daily practices, events and programs. We have folk dance and folk music classes, acting, fine arts, handicrafts and needlework groups, ballroom dance classes, gymnastics etc.
After we became the users of the new Hungarian Cultural Centre in Palic in February 2022, we assessed the needs of the locals, and started additional groups and sessions. Beside the daily meetings of the groups, we also launched various events and programs. These include dance nights, concerts, film projections and lectures on various topics, theatre performances, as well as the monthly craft fairs and children's clothing fairs. The work does not stop even during the summer holidays, this year for the ninth time we are organising a four-week summer day camp for the children of Palic and the surrounding villages. Our other traditional event is the 17th meeting of folk song circles in October 2023.
The location of our programs is the new Hungarian Cultural Centre in Palics, constructed within the ColourCoop project funded by the EU.
Our goal is to be able to continuously offer cultural content in the Hungarian Cultural Centre in Palic, thereby attracting all potential interested parties who have not yet participated in our association's programs. The target group primarily includes Hungarians from Palic, since according to the purpose of the centre, we are meant to serve their cultural needs.
